Metal Polishing

  • Stainless Steel: Baking Soda to clean. Club soda for polishing. White vinegar for removing rust & water spots. Stains with 1 part hydrogen peroxide + 3 parts baking soda.
  • Brass: Lemon Juice + Salt (not plated)
  • Gold & Silver: Non-gel toothpaste
-don’t let air dry, wear cotton gloves. Store silver in non-plastic, no rubber bands, in acid-free material.
Any abrasives form very fine scratches. If you want better preservation, jewlers say to use a polishing cloth although it's labor intensive.
  • Copper: Ketchup or non-gel toothpaste
  • Chrome: Rub w/ aluminum foil
