Press and News Releases Moraga's Town Council unanimously passed a written "least toxic pest management policy" or integrated pest management policy in Moraga on September 13, 2006! Thanks to the community of 39 who attended the evening meeting including children, to support the passing of the policy. Special thanks to Carol Shenon and Jennifer Tao for all their hard work and Lynda Deschambault who helped get the item on the agenda in face of opposition or apathy by other town council members. Thanks also to Penelope Leach, Park & Rec Director and the Park & Rec Commission for supporting and endorsing the policy. Moraga parks is now one of the "least pesticides applied" in all of Contra Costa County, if not the least applied for our kids to play in. Thanks for everyone's support on this issue over the past 2 patient years of document review (Jennifer Tao), involvement in park & rec commission (Carol Shenon), and nudging from within the Town Council (Lynda Deschambault). NEWS RELEASE: April 24, 2003 Toddlers Being Exposed to Environmental Hazards in Pre-Schools Parents for a Safer Environment (PfSE), a grass-roots organization, was formed in the Fall of 2002 to address the incidences of children under the age of 5 being exposed to toxic substances in Child Care Facilities such as solvents, asbestos, toxic cleaning compounds and pesticides, lead, among others. Parents in the Moraga, Lafayette, and Orinda area of the East Bay have witnessed 6 incidences out of 18 schools toured, or over 1 out of 3 during “at their best” times.
Conference: Prominent experts will address the most serious problems in preschools and
how to preclude them from happening in this unprecedented gathering. All involved are
volunteers.
